Charlotte, NC – The 2nd Annual Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest will take over Uptown Charlotte with the sounds and rhythms of some of the world’s greatest jazz performers June 24-25, 2011 at the NC Music Factory. Due to its inaugural success, the festival has been extended to two days, offering a unique atmosphere each night and more performances for the true Jazz enthusiasts. Tickets are on sale now.
The festival will begin on Friday, June 24 at The Fillmore Charlotte at 8:30pm with its “In the Spotlight” performance featuring legendary jazz vocalist/songwriter, Michael Franks and Marcus Johnson, keyboardist. The second day of the festival will be held at the Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheatre for the “Under the Stars” performance starring D-M-S (George Duke, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn) along with saxophonist Gerald Albright and The Jeff Lorber Fusion. Saturday’s performance will begin at 6:30pm. Both venues are located at the NC Music Factory, 820 Hamilton Street, Charlotte.
The Inaugural Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest realized great success in 2010 and attracted attendees from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, fulfilling the event producers’ goal of becoming a “destination event”. “When we realized there was a void for a major jazz festival in a growing city such as Charlotte, we saw that as an opportunity to create something unique for true jazz fans and lovers of good music. Last year’s success proved that we were on the right path to becoming an annual event”, says Charles Whitfield of E2 Shows, LLC.
