On March 10, 2011, The Red Pump Project- Charlotte, commemorated National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day by Painting the Night RED! This Ladies Only event was held at Vertical Tease Fitness, a pole dancing instructional boutique in South Charlotte. The ladies “Rocked their Red Pumps” while learning and showing off a new, fun and flirty pole routine…and it was a workout! Whew! The night also featured an astounding performance from one of Vertical Tease Fitness’ pole instructors, Takelia Fox. She truly demonstrated the art of pole dancing. We could not conclude the night without having a discussion about the impact of HIV/AIDS in our community, specifically among women and girls. There was candid conversation around this controversial topic, which everyone in the room had something valuable to include. At the end of the night, these women were empowered, united, and celebrated as women. Many women were so moved by our passion that they were ready to hit the ground running for Red Pump!
