For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 4, 2009)-The 3rd Annual Queen City Awards (QCA) will take place on December 12, 2009 at Skandolos, located at 5317 Independence Blvd in Charlotte, NC.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the show starting at 6:30 p.m.  This year’s ceremony will present 26 awards in a variety of music and entertainment categories including: R&B Group/Band of the year, Rock Group/Band of the year, Country Group/Band of the year and even a Poetry in Motion award.

The Queen City Awards was founded in 2007 by Kevan Glover, owner of Talk of NC (an online resource guide for news and entertainment in North Carolina), as a way to  acknowledge and recognize independent musicians, spoken word poets and other performing artists developing their craft in the growing independent music scene in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas.

The nomination and selection process is similar to other national awards show such as the BET and MTV Video Music Awards where artists are nominated by and voted for by fans.  Online voting for the Queen City Awards is currently open and accessible via www.queencityawards.com.  Hosted by Big Pat (Charlotte Bobcats) and Melinda Medina (Model/Media Personality), QCA will also honor the life of the late Nate Quick during the ceremony. Quick, who died in August of liver cancer, was a beloved member of the Charlotte entertainment industry and considered the “voice” of Power 98, where he worked as a radio personality for many years.  As a tribute, the Queen City Awards will donate a portion of proceeds from this event to Amped 4-A-Cure (www.amped4acure.org), an organization headquartered in Charlotte that supports cancer research through music.  This will truly make 2009 a very special year for the QCA.  This year’s show is being produced by Talkofnc.com and CarolinaArtist.net.

For more information regarding the 2009 Queen City Awards, contact Kevan Glover at info@queencityawards.com or by calling 704-965-3434.  The Queen City Awards’ main goal is to encourage independent artists to pursue their passions in the industry and provide unity among music community.
