Charlotte Literary Festival in Association with RealEyes Bookstore and The Harvey B. Gantt Center to Host “A Foxy Brown Affair”
CHARLOTTE, N.C – The legendary actress and director Pam Grier will be the next featured author for “Change is Coming to Charlotte” event series on May 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Harvey B. Gantt Center in Uptown Charlotte. Grier will be promoting her new tell-all memoir FOXY: My Life in Three Acts about her life in the film and entertainment industry.
Grier broke the mold after her film debut during the 1970s, forever changing how the world viewed African American actresses. She proved that in addition to being a highly desirable film actress and sex symbol, she has the intelligence and tenacity to sustain a career, spanning more than 30 years. In FOXY, she chronicles the good, bad, and steamy highlights in her life and career. From her early beginnings as a star in Foxy Brown to her Golden-Globe nominated role in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, Grier reveals her hard-won battles against racism and sexism, her victories in Hollywood, and her relationships with Richard Pryor and Kareem Abdul Jabar. Grier is not only an acclaimed movie star, but a dedicated activist—her story is an intriguing one.
